Autophantasia

Lauren Leung Cramer
hypnotic, disorienting, uncomfortable, lost, claustrophobic, surreal

When I’m lying in bed at night, unable to fall asleep, I always visualize the same thing in my head: a long, narrow hallway that seems to continue endlessly into nothing. Imagining this liminal space always - somehow - allows me to immediately drift into unconsciousness, like a hidden passageway towards Sleep that exists only in my mind. Marked only by an ever-looping sequence of personal doodles graffitied on its walls, this 3D rendered replica of my “mind-palace” is trancelike and eternal — it’s alright if you fall asleep too.

(MY INTERPRETATION OF SLEEPWA[L]KING)
A transient space between wakefulness and sleep, which can only be entered if a subject wills not to.
